How to Change iPhone Personal Hotspot Name to Make It Easier to Find

Gadgetren – Activating a personal hotspot or often known as “tethering” of course can be one way that can be done when we need an internet connection.

It’s just that before activating it, we sometimes need to set some things on the cellphone that we want to share. This includes changing the name of the personal hotspot so that it will be easier to find later on other devices.

Each cellphone unfortunately has a different settings interface. On the iPhone, we won’t even find the option to rename a personal hotspot specifically unlike on Android-powered phones.

That’s not to say, though, that renaming personal hotspots isn’t supported on iPhone devices. We can still do it but it requires completely different steps.

To change the personal hotspot name setting on the iPhone, we need to change the name of the device itself. For those of you who don’t know how, you can follow the steps to do this in the following review.

How to Rename iPhone Personal Hotspot

  1. Go to page Settings
  2. Go to section General
  3. Tap the menu About
  4. Click option Name
  5. Click Remove (ikon x)
  6. Enter a new name in the column provided
  7. Press the button Done

By changing the name of the iPhone, later the name of the personal hotspot connection that will be displayed on other devices will follow. That way later it can be easier to find even though the number of networks available is very large.

But keep in mind that the change in the name of the iPhone will also apply to the settings used in several other features. This includes setting up your device for iCloud, AirDrop, or connecting to a computer.

After successfully changing the name, we can then activate the iPhone’s personal hotspot as needed. It’s just that you need to also consider changing your password or password first to make it more secure.

In contrast to the name, changing the personal hotspot password can be done directly on the page to activate it. We in this case can arrange it via Settings > Mobile Data > Personal Hotspot then tap Wi-Fi password.

To be more secure, we can then change the personal hotspot password to a minimum of eight characters consisting of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and some supported symbols.
