In this sense, it is necessary to rescue a research work in which the Center for Biomedical Research in the Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition Network (CIBEROBN) participated. This group of researchers then explained that “this is the most exhaustive study that has been published to date on egg consumption and cardiovascular health.”
One of the principal investigators of this study that was published in the journal ‘European Journal of Clinical Nutrition‘ in 2020 is Estefanía Toledo, belonging to the University of Navarra.
Specifically, the researcher Toledo explained that “the final conclusion is that there is probably no serious scientific reason to advise against egg consumption in the general population”.
Is it good to eat an egg a day?
Similarly, these researchers found no clear association between the consumption of one egg a day and increased cardiovascular risk, with the exception of heart failure and those with diabetes.
In this sense, it is recommended that the people with diabetes do not exceed more than four eggs a week, as explained by the CIBEROBN researchers.
On the other hand, the researcher Toledo argues that “except for the aforementioned adverse relationship -only present in diabetics and only in Americans- for heart failure, for all other aspects of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, strokes, cardiovascular deaths, total cardiovascular disease), egg consumption tends to be protective rather than detrimental.”
In short, according to science and research studies, the majority of the population can maintain a consumption of up to four eggs per week. Although, it is advisable not to abuse the intake of this food, as it happens with most foods, since no excess is beneficial.
